Abracadabra! It is Ivan Pecel!

As Cap Board’s Welcome Back Week is in full swing, magician Ivan Pecel came to Cabrini to show off his skills while students brought their imaginations along with an open mind.

Pecel brought his wits, juggling expertise and his humor. It was the first time he ever performed on a Cabrini stage.  He did a few juggling acts for the students that contained bowling pins, red balls, yellow rings, glowing balls and even knives!

He was a semifinalist on American’s Got Talent first season for his juggling. “It was really great, it was a cool opportunity,” Pecel said. “I have no favorite act. My favorite part had to be interacting with the crowd. I loved how everyone was calling out to me and how we were all interacting.”

There was one part of the show where Pecel opened it up to the audience to contact him on all of his social media and he would answer any questions that were asked right on stage. He would even answer random comments that were screamed out at him.

“He was pretty funny, some jokes were unexpected; especially the parts where he would run at the people in the audience with the knifes,” Maurice Melvin, sophomore Cap Board and director of special events, said.

There was one part of the show where Ivan Pecel took a volunteer from the audience to lay on the stage and he ran over the person while juggling knives.

“I was anxious for the part where Ivan juggled knives over the volunteer but my favorite act had to be him juggling the knives and even the glowing balls,” Catherine Fazio, sophomore transfer student, said.

Another trick of Pecel’s was him juggling four balls and then he would add a ball each time as the lights were turned off. The balls even glowed in the dark.

“I enjoyed it, he was hilarious. I wouldn’t typically go to a magician on my free time but I really enjoyed watching him. I never heard of him before tonight,” Fazio said.

Fazio even tweeted at Ivan during his act when he opened it up to the audience and he replied to what she said on stage during the show.

Pecel really enjoyed performing for the students.

“I loved it, it was a dream come true and it was hard-work but I could tell that everyone was engaged and they enjoyed it,” Pecel said.
