Angela Savasta is WYBF’s Operations Manager, Traffic Director and DJ. Savasta’s journey to where she is today is one of change. Savasta intended to major in education but fell into her major of English and communication right after she became involved in WYBF. As a sophomore Savasta joined the WYBF staff and eventually became the Traffic Director and the Promotions Director and soon after Operations Manager in the spring of 2008.

Savasta very simply explains her job as Operations Manager. “I am the student in charge of all the other students involved with WYBF and when there is an issue or a complaint, the students come to me.” Savasta said. Savasta trains, organizes and assists other students. Savasta loves helping other staff members solve their “problems” and fixing anything that goes wrong at the station.

Savasta makes sure each show runs smoothly by making the logs that each DJ uses. Other then that, Savasta works right along with other students and makes sure each department and staff member get the job done. Savasta works closely with Heather Shanley, WYBF’s general manager, to make sure the station is operating as it should and that the FCC rules and regulations are being followed.

WYBF has been her favorite thing to be involved at Cabrini and her favorite aspect of WYBF is hosting her own radio show each week. Besides, WYBF Savasta is involved with Loqation, Cabrini College’s webdition of The Loquitur where runs the audio board. Savasta was an orientation leader in fall 2008 and is currently a religion tutor and has tutored Italian in the past.

Savasta’s musical interests are wide and varied. Savasta considers herself a huge sucker for top 40, but really enjoys listening to anything but country. Savasta plays primarily top 40 on her radio show called Manic Mondays–every Monday night from 8-10 p.m.. Currently on her iPod you’d find her listening to OAR, sublime or Britney Spears.

Savasta has plenty of real world experience when it comes to media. Savasta is currently interning at NBC 10 in the marketing department. She has also had two internships at two different radio stations, WOBM-FM in Central Jersey where she was a promotions assistant for a year and a half and WJBR-FM in Wilmington, DE last summer.

On a personal note, Savasta considers herself a true Jersey shore girl who loves movies, reading and dinosaurs. Savasta will graduate in May 2009 with a degree in English and communication. Currently, she is unsure of whether or not to pursue a career in radio or television. But one thing is for sure, no matter what Savasta pursues, she will have the experience and drive to succeed.
