Shopping, swimming and surfing sounds like an excellent way for any student to spend their Saturday. Cabrini’s Campus Activities and Programming (CAP) Board kicked off their weekend events by offering students the opportunity to travel to Atlantic City for a day of fun in the sun.

Nicole Lawlor, co-director of weekend events, was pleased with the outcome of the first weekend trip.

“The people on the trip really seemed to enjoy it,” Lawlor said. “The best part was being able to relax for a couple hours and shop.”

Once the buses arrived to Atlantic City, the students who went on the trip were free to roam around and do whatever they please. A popular thing to do was to go shopping for a couple of hours. The students who went shopping enjoyed both the outlets and the mall.

“It was a really nice day,” sophomore Becca Miles said. “My favorite part was shopping around and seeing all the different people there.”

The other students seemed to enjoy themselves as well, whether it was roaming the boardwalk or just walking the beach. Kiera Williams, the other co-director of CAP Board’s weekend events, was pleased with the outcome as well. Williams enjoyed herself and said her favorite part was “lying out on the beach,” because  “the waves were awesome.” Williams also enjoyed her time spent in the Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum.

Although not many students chose to take the surfing lessons, they all seemed to have fun without getting in the water.

“When we went shopping, we sat in this area where there were beach chairs and sand and it overlooked the ocean,” Miles said.

Lawlor and Williams agreed that this was a great way to kick off the weekend trips that CAP Board has planned throughout the semester.

“We wanted to give people the opportunity to get away from campus and just relax,” Lawlor said.
