College is the time to try new things and figure out what your future is going to be like.

College is expensive. So why not get the most out of it?

Having a successful college career depends on how much you want out of it. The more friends you make, the better. Networking with professors and peers is one thing that is easier to do while attending college.

College is a time to get out of your comfort zone and use the four years you have to work towards a degree in a major that is hopefully something you are passionate about.

Focusing on school work and balancing a social life are two of the top things college students struggle with, however, they are the most crucial.

Many people may find that they spent their four years focusing more on socializing than academics.  If this is the case, you could wake up one day and be 24 years old with not enough credits to graduate and feeling like there is nothing motivating you to move on with your life.

College is supposed to be an experience and a stepping stone, not a lifestyle.

Unfortunately, too many people do not understand that their parents are not paying for them to drink and party all of the time.  The “just getting by” method that many students adapt does not support a healthy college lifestyle.

For the students who are partying all of the time and doing the work just to graduate on tim
e, it may be time to take a step back and ask yourself why you are really going to college.  You could be saving your parents money by staying home and going to community college until you are ready for the college lifestyle.

So, are you doing the work to get by?  Or are you really learning what you need for your future?

Many college students find themselves two or three semesters into their major and wondering if they really love what they are studying.  If the answer to that question is no, then they really may just be doing their work “to get by.”
