Second semester is back in full swing to the dismay of many students.  Winter has decided to dump over three feet of snow on campus and residents are quickly growing tired of the same food from the cafeteria.  But students are constantly in a predicament: do they go out and spend loads of money on a good, fresh and healthy dinner or stick to the pizza and fries from Cav’s Corner?  College students already have enough on their plate, (no pun intended) so where can one find a good meal without breaking the bank?  One does not have to know the right people or do tons of research.  Look no further, fellow foodies, because here is a list of some of the best places for drinks and good eats around campus.

A favorite place for many Cavaliers is The Fox and Hound.  This bar offers a much needed midweek break.

“Two- dollar Tuesday’s are a great way to stay on a budget.  You can even get appetizers for cheap there too,” junior Jerome Bailey said.  “If you’re also looking for cheap late night eats, go to Chili’s.  They have had priced apps during the week so you can get chips and salsa for $2.99.”

Both places are within 10 miles of Cabrini and offer a great alternative to the mundane munchies at the cafeteria.

Now if students are looking to travel a little further, Philadelphia can offer not only great drinks and menus, but fun activities that can be made into a chill Saturday night out.  The next few places are located in and near Philadelphia.

Sushi lovers can come together at Hai Street Kitchen located near Center City.  This sushi hub features all natural ingredients and is basically a chipotle except for Sushi.

“You can choose from a roll, bowl or salad and then you pick all the ingredients you want in it and toppings as well,” junior Erin Kelly said.  “I picked the roll and it comes in this cute box like sushi burrito and it runs about the price of a bowl at chipotle.”

Located in Midtown Village in the heart of Center City is McGillin’s Olde Ale House which has been serving local Philadelphia since 1860.  McGillian’s was named Philadelphia’s Best Irish Pub because it offers reasonably priced food and brews.  Sit on bar stool and take in the history that this Pub offers.  You might even see a celebrity sipping on the wide range of beers on tap.  People like Will Ferrell, Kim Delaney, Tony Davis and Phillies Ryan Howard.

“If you walk around center city, you’re bound to find a great place to go,” junior Sam Sheridan said. “I found this bar that was offering a trivia night with half off drinks so just walk around the city and have fun with it.”
