Cabrini women’s basketball team played against Cairn University on Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the Dixon Center. The final score of the game was 65-42, with Cabrini resulting in a win. In the first half of the game, the girls had 16 turnovers.

This is the second win in a row for the women’s basketball team and they are hoping to make it a third win during the next game.

“We have to go on the road on Saturday and then we have two home games and our last game is against our rival,” Cabrini women’s basketball head coach Kate Pearson said.

Renee Oliver had a total of 12 rebounds during the game and 13 points put on the board.

“My biggest strength is rebounding, I am not really a scorer, but when I do get the chance to score, like tonight, I do,” Oliver said.

Myonie Williamson scored a total of 11 points and Naomi Washington scored a total of 10 points as well.

“I started out the first four games, I had sprained my ankle, a few games after that I was not at my best, but now I feel more comfortable,” Naomi Washington said

Washington scored from the three-point line in the beginning of the game to help Cabrini go on a 11-2 run.

Erin Dodds respectively put nine points on the scoreboard building up her momentum. Dodds is currently working on her shot and hopes to improve coming in close to double digits with her other players.

“I worked on my shot and got my shot back a little bit, but something I can definitely work on is my shots and the flow of it,” Dodds said.

The team took advantage of the other team’s mistakes by taking those 29 turnovers and resulting in 25 points put on the board.

“We still have a lot to work, even though we did win, there are a lot of little things we need to work on and execute,” Oliver said.

The Cabrini women’s basketball team is staying mindful of their win and takes this game like it was every
other game. A win or a loss they are treating each game the same.

“We are looking to go to the championship again,” Washington said.

Number 25, Kate Skalski, was injured during the game tonight with a sprained ankle.

“She has been playing through the injury and she had an injury tonight,” coach Pearson said.

No word if she will get back on the court.

“We have had a lot of injuries to battle through and that had definitely helped us on and off the
court,” coach Pearson said.

This Saturday, Feb. 11, the women’s basketball team at Cabrini will go on the road and then two home games will be played after that. Their next game is at Clarks Summit on Feb. 11,, at 1 p.m. The last game will be played against their rival, Gwynedd Mercy.

“The last game can implicate playoff seeding,” coach Pearson said.
