Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz was spotted at the natatorium in the Dixon Center around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22. Many students were starstruck as the news quickly spread around campus.
Wentz’s visit to Cabrini was unknown to students. Many were in disbelief of the professional football player’s presence on campus. It was not long until pictures circulated and the Dixon Center became a little more crowded.
The lifeguards on duty were not the ones to blow the whistle on Wentz’s arrival to the pool but that didn’t make them any less starstruck. Freshman Marisa Linsky and junior Tom Ngo were the two guards scheduled to be working when Wentz showed up.
“I was excited and surprised when I saw Carson while guarding the pool. I’m a huge fan of the Eagles so I didn’t believe it at first,” Ngo said. “People were crowding around the windows and coming in the pool. Some even swam just to get a closer look. Carson didn’t seem to mind the crowd around him though.”
While Ngo didn’t seem phased by the crowds, Linsky had a different opinion.
“People obviously reacted very quickly. The campus is small, so word go around pretty fast. We ended up having to close the blinds to the pool because people wouldn’t stop taking pictures,” Linsky said. “I was pretty annoyed at first because our coach had to keep leaving her office to tell people to stop standing outside of the pool and trying to take pictures. We were joking about how no one ever took this much interest in the pool before this, even though the swim team is the only AEC championship team at Cabrini, might I add. Overall, it was definitely a crazy experience. I think people have to remember that he’s still an athlete just trying to workout like the rest of us.”
Wentz has been struggling with injury after injury since his 2017 season. After an ACL tear in December of 2017, it was discovered that he had developed a stress fracture in his back towards the end of the 2018 season. On Dec. 13th 2018, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the injury was to heal with rest:
A recent CT scan on Carson Wentz’s back revealed a fractured vertebrae that, if allowed time to rest, would fully heal without further expected issues, sources tell ESPN. There will be a continued evaluation to determine if continuing to play this year will make injury worse.

There has not been much news on Wentz’s recovery other than the physical therapy that he was seen doing today. Doug Pederson announced that Wentz was to be the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback going forward at the end-of-the-season presser.
