Celebrating different cultures is something that different organizations wanted to promote on campus.

CAP board combined with Black Student Union and Pura Vida for this event.

“We planned Culture Fest for students to come together and learn about different cultures, and to come and have some fun,” CAP board member Selena Shalfa said.

“I think our biggest goal with tonight is to have people be aware of different cultures on this campus and then that would make it easier for people to be comfortable on campus and just welcome,” Ashley Maynard, director of special events, said.

“I came to culture fest because I’ve seen the posters around campus

and a lot of my friends were talking about it. It sounded really fun so I thought I would come stop by and see how it is. I’m glad I came it’s a great way to get people together and I learned a lot about different cultures that I didn’t know about before,” junior Paige Wagner said.

The tables that were featured were Greece, Italy, Latin, Japan, Black America and China. With each table that represented a country, there was food from that country with an activity that a student could do.

“The sorority that I am in on campus is a multi-cultural sorority so we came together to check out a culture event to see if we could learn more to incorporate in our sorority that we might not already do,” sophomore Samantha Cavaliery said.

The event was held in Grace Hall and had many students going to tables and trying all the food and doing the crafts that were there. Students seemed very intrigued with what was going on.

“I wanted to support our student groups and the multiple identities of our students here at Cabrini. I hope that they can gain some understanding of other students lived experiences and help students celebrate and appreciate those differences and how great they can be,” assistant director of intercultural education engagement and assessment Sarah Carter said.

I am a sophomore at Cabrini University. This is my first year writing for the Loquitur. I may not be the strongest writer but I am here to learn and to give so much information to not only my school but to the public as well
