A battle of ranked teams certainly did not disappoint at Edith Robb Dixon field this afternoon. No. 5 Lynchburg visited No. 17 Cabrini in the Blue and White’s home opener.

The game was sent into OT after a back and forth affair in regulation. Junior midfielder Evan Downey scored the game-winner in the extra period with 57 seconds remaining.

Downey had himself quite the day with his first hat-trick of the season, including an assist, for a total of four points in the contest.

Downey was not the only Cavalier to put up multiple goals. Sophomore attacker James Magnani and freshman attacker Matt LoParo each contributed two goals. LoParo also added an assist to his stat sheet.

The Cavaliers move to 2-0 on the season and will host Dickinson College on Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m.
