The collaboration of two spectrums of the Hip Hop industry clash together to create one of the most listened to albums of the year. Coming in at number two on the Billboard 200, Future and Juice WRLD’s album WRLD ON DRUGS recorded about 123.4 million audio streams in the first week.

Juice WRLD, who is lyrically known for his emo style rap that came from his love for rock music growing up. This album spews out many different emotions to the listeners from the emo style rap that Chicago raised rapper, Juice WRLD offers. While adding the flexible lyricist Atlanta raised rapper, Future. The album also features Young Thug, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Gunna, Yung Bans and Young Scooter.

Throughout the album it can be heard that the two have their ups and downs lyrically. The two shine on songs like “Shorty”, “Hard Work Pays Off” and “WRLD on Drugs”, both artist really show the best flow with their verses. The disconnection between the two artist can be heard throughout the album as well. Songs like “Red Bentley” that features Young Thug sounds like three artist forcing their words over the beat and never sounds like a flowing song.

Juice WRLD started blowing up after his single “Lucid Dreams” was released in 2017. This dark song brought popularity to the emo rap genre that Juice WRLD is on top of. The mix of rock and rap has really brought out the stars true talents that gave him the position to be sign to the same record label as future resulting in the collaboration from the two artists.

The two have been receiving some mixed signals from their fans about the new project. From Juice WRLD side of things it doesn’t look to positive. There are always going to be some haters out there on ever project but from coming off of a great solo album people just expected more out of the kid.

“I am a huge Future fan and I listened to some of Juice WRLD’s songs but I was happy to listen to hit because it was different for Future like it’s not his type of beats and I still think he killed it,” Cabrini student Cassius Christe said

This is an album to check out strictly because of the numbers that it has put up in just the first week. There is still a long road ahead for these two artist and this is just another great project that they will both look back on as a success.
