The rowing team at Cabrini University finished their second race of their fall season. With new members now on the team, they have to get comfortable with each other prior to their spring season.

Their goal for this regatta was to see improvements by the team from their last regatta. They need to keep improving before their season approaches.

“So for me this was my first time being a part of a fall season race. I have never been a part of the team for the fall season and had really never met any of the freshmen members before Saturday,” junior Bailey Janowski said.

Janowski is a business management major with human resources and sports management minors.

The rowing members go through a ton of training to get better and better for each regatta. They can certainly see the progress they are making with improving every time they regatta. They have not really gotten to train all together though.

“I think for this race everything went pretty well for it being some people’s first time in an eight plus boat. Also for not practicing together before that race I think the outcome could have been way worse. From previous races the team did drop some time which was a plus, but for it to being a rebuilding season and having to use some people who had previously been on the team I think it was an over-all positive experience,” junior early education and special education major Victoria Anderson said.

With this still being only the second regatta for the team, not many of the members have gotten to know each other very well. Since the regatta happened, a lot of the returning members got to meet and bond with the new rowers that have joined the team.

“It was a good experience. It was nice to get a chance to meet the new members of the team,” senior educational studies major Angelie Traviza-Traverzo said.

For the team to improve more and more for each regatta, they will have to start training all together and that will for sure happen. Every regatta they will get better and drop some time. It is still only the fall season so they have enough time to keep improving.

The first spring season race has not been scheduled yet. As it gets closer to the spring time, that is when the schedule will be shown. Practice makes perfect and that will sure help the rowing team.
