There are so many different genres in today’s music world. And so many different ways to listen to music, whether it be radio, Pandora, Spotify, Soundcloud, Youtube or Itunes. And in today’s music industry, many artists, especially rappers, tend to be accepted when they rap about current events or family issues. One of the more famous rappers who talks a lot about current events is Kanye West.
Kanye has been in the music industry for about 12 years now and has released 15 albums in that time. His most recent album, Life of Pablo, was released in January of this year and has his listeners with mixed emotions.
“The album sucks,” sophomore Alex Swallows said. “I do not like Kanye, and I do not agree with his music.”
While most of the time Kanye is seen not smiling for pictures and interrupting Taylor Swift’s speeches, he raps about things he cares about. From his daughter North, his wife Kim, family members especially like his mother, West’s music is quite personal.
“Rappers like Meek Mill rap about drugs and killing people, while Kanye makes his lyrics more culturally relevant,” junior Kane McGovern said.
Kanye is an A-list celebrity that raps about current day struggles and because of that, he has fans that both love and hate his new album “Life Of Pablo.”
