For seniors, the countdown to graduation is bittersweet.  With a little over 12 weeks away, the last semester for seniors can be a rush to the finish line or a staggering walk that includes stress and confusing applications.  But those actively seeking a job or graduate school two months before college-life comes to a close are one step ahead of every other senior scrambling for a job.

The Center for Career and Professional Development offers useful information to students looking for resume help for internships and applying for a dream job.  Navigating through hundreds of job postings and graduate school applications can be daunting but with a quick trip to the Career and Professional Development Center, students can find solace in their search.

Don’t have time to stop in and talk to the staff?

Go to cabrini.edu and look under the section labeled “career and professional development”.  Here, students who are looking for some extra help can find links to a self-assessment questionnaire, resume examples and job search tools.

Some seniors are planning their future out now in order to have an edge in their competitive fields.

Biology major Brittney Pedrazzi has mapped her goals for life after Cabrini.

“I decided to do my master’s because I want to further my education instead of taking a year off before medical school,” Pedrazzi said. “I am hoping it will help make me stand out as an applicant and it can possibly serve as my first year as medical school depending on where I go.”

Even with a busy schedule and taking undergraduate and graduate classes for her spring semester, Pedrazzi still has time for work experience to help her get the job she is looking for.

“I already have a job now as a CVS Pharmacy technician and I am currently working full time while going to school full time. The process was actually very easy for CVS and I love the job,” Pedrazzi said.

For those interested in grad school, senior psychology major Brittany Sanner has some advice.

“Start looking/visiting schools now,” Sanner said. “ I also recommend applying early and having many different drafts of your personal statement looked over my many different people. Do a lot of research in whatever program you are interested in.”

Sanner applied to two graduate programs and has been accepted to Shippensburg University for Organizational Development Leadership with a track in Higher Ed Structure and Policy after an extensive process of searching, applying and refining her resume.

“I am hoping to become both a better leader and a better teacher over my next two years in grad school,” Sanner said.
