Stream it or go out and see it?

In the past year, I have only gone to the movie theaters a handful of times. It gets too expensive to go there. A ticket at the movie theater where I live costs about $12.00 then after buying a popcorn, drink and candy it’s almost a $25.00 trip per person. When it comes to going to the movie theater, I will only go if there is a specific movie I REALLY want to see because what’s the point in wasting the money. However, my friends and I love going to the movies for a fun girls night to see a Disney movie or a chick-flick. Every once in awhile it is okay to treat ourselves to a movie.

After I am done all my work that is due I can finally relax, which means I put on my pajamas, get cozy in my bed and watch Netflix on my laptop. That is a typical night for me and other people who have a subscription to a movie streaming site. Using a streaming site like Netflix or Hulu is cheaper and easier than going to the movies all the time. A basic Netflix and Hulu subscription is $7.99.

On Netflix, it costs more per month for multiple people to use the account at once. However, you can bum off of your friend’s or family member’s account if they are willing to give you their login information.

According to Statista, 120 million people used Netflix in 2016 and 51.6 million people were subscribed to Hulu in 2014.

On streaming sites there are more options than there are at the movie theaters. At the movie theaters they show about ten movies and only at select times. On Netflix and Hulu there are hundreds of movies to pick from and they also have seasons of popular shows that were or are still on T.V. and they can be watched anytime from your mobile device. The only catch with watching shows is that Netflix puts the seasons of the shows up after they are over and the show is starting a new season. Now your at risk for seeing spoilers and friends revealing the big finale by accident.

Watching a movie at home is easier than going to a theater. First, there are not any annoying people talking while the movie is playing or blocking the view with their heads. Streaming online gives people the ability to binge watch the best shows and movies for hours and you don’t have to watch them with complete strangers sitting next to you. On Netflix and Hulu, viewers can pause what they are watching to go get a refill or use the restroom. However, going to the movies can be a fun night out with friends. Some of my favorite memories is going to see The Twilight Saga movies at midnight when they first come out. Going to see a movie at the theater is definitely a blast when your in a mood to go out or if your feeling antisocial Netflix and Hulu is an option too.
