The perfect dream date

Love is in the air. Some people might be dreading Valentine’s Day while others are thinking about joining in on the holiday by wanting to take a significant other on their dream date. Getting an idea of what to do might just be the hardest part, but maybe keeping it simple is the best thing to do.

Everyone has their own opinion on what would be their dream date. However, having some ideas might help make a good, educated decision on what kind of date you take your signifi- cant other on. After creating a poll on Twitter of the perfect dream date, the results might help one make their decision that much easier.

The options were dinner and a movie, Netflix and chilling, doing something outdoors and going out to a club. After 85 people took their vote to Twitter, more than half voted their ideal dream date would be dinner and a movie. No, this is not an extravagant date but it could just be the best date for an individual and the person that they love.

Freshman business major Kassie Ockford had some reasoning as to why she chose dinner and a movie.

“It is more of a classic date,” Ockford said. “I also like this kind of date more because you can actually sit down with the person and have good conversation. Try to get to know the person a little bit more.”

Picking the best date that will be just as fun for someone but also that someone’s sig- nificant other is the way to choose what kind of date to go on. This might be something that involves doing something outdoors, which came in second on the Twitter poll.

Hiking, rock climbing, going on a picnic, the possibilities are endless and being ath- letic is not a requirement to love being outdoors. Who says one has to rock climb in order to love being outdoors? Sitting on the beach or taking a walk through a park could even be the best date.

Senior exercise science major Christine Ingargiola says star gazing would be her dream date.

“Ever since I watched the movie ‘A Walk To Remember’, I’ve always thought that that would be the perfect dream date for me,” Ingargiola said. It’s doing something outdoors which I love but not having to get all sweaty.”

Netflix and chill can be interpreted in many different ways. Some might take it literal and want to watch a movie on Netflix and just chill, while others have a sexual meaning for it. However, there is no need to judge someone for pick- ing this as their dream date. For some people it is. After coming in third place in the perfect dream date poll, senior exercise science major Harlee Scanlan wanted to share her reasoning behind this risqué choice.

“Every Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend and I try to find a nice place to eat but it never works out because places are so packed,” Scanlan said. “So instead of waiting two hours to eat, we’d rather order take out, watch a movie and just enjoy each others company. Also, being alone in the comfort of your own home has it’s perks as well.”

As far as a night at the club for a date on Valentine’s Day, most people were not really into that. But if that is one’s thing, then totally go for it. One should never be afraid to try something new and to step out of the com- fort zone with the person they love. As long as two people are having fun and enjoying each others company, then that is all that matters.
