Coming off a devastating loss that snapped an 11-match winning streak, the women’s volleyball team was out to get back on track in another CSAC match.

They did just that, beating Gwynedd-Mercy College on Thursday, Oct. 11, in a sweep. Trying to start a new winning streak, the Lady Cavs were eager to get the win and came out on fire.

After playing five close sets against Neumann University in Tuesday’s loss, the Lady Cavs made sure none of the sets were even close. They cruised to three straight set wins – 25-11, 25-11 and 25-15 – for the sweep.

The Lady Cavs were led by senior Danielle Carrozza, who posted nine kills, four digs and one service ace. Senior Meg Ryan added three kills, two assists and one ace. Junior Michele Fitz posted three kills, two aces and a block as well as three digs.

As a team, the Lady Cavs posted 10 aces and 33 digs in the match. Eight players contributed to the team’s 28 kills on the night.

The Lady Cavs return home on Tuesday, Oct. 16, to face Keystone College at the Nerney Field House at 7 p.m.
