The annual commUNITY BBQ was Thursday night hosted by the office of Diversity and CAP Board as part of Welcome Week.
Students, families and Alumni were invited to enjoy free food, games and prizes in the newly deemed University, rain or shine, behind the mansion. Because of unexpected rain, it was moved to Grace Hall Atrium.
Stephanie Reed, Sarah Carter and students in the Diversity Office usually run this event but this was the first year that the Diversity office has partnered up with another board to host the annual BBQ.
WYBF, Cabrini’s radio station, began hosting and playing live tunes for everyone who began to come in. Students, alumni and families began to get comfortable and began to enjoy themselves with laughter, dancing, lots of food and snacks, and non-stop mingling between new and old members of the University.
This year, instead of the usual burgers and hot dogs, they changed it to a variety of authentic foods.
“I liked the Mexican themed food,” junior Allie Dilks said.
Many of the attendees also agreed that the food was amazing and the music and games and raffles made everything fun and livelier.
The annual commUNITY was a great turn out according to many students and Alumni that were there. Everyone said they had a great time.
2016 alumnus, Ernst Jasmine and Deon Brown said they, “had a great time and [are] glad to have come back.”
“Other campus clubs and organizations should look into doing more unity stuff like this because it brings everyone out to have a good time and meet people,” Brown said.
