The fall sports season has arrived and Cabrini University’s women’s tennis team is preparing to be victorious. With many strong practices under their wing, the team amplifies strength and determination to succeed in it’s upcoming matches this fall.

The team is showing a lot of excitement for this season especially with the leadership of the former assistant coach Carol White who is now the head coach of the team.

“I’m really enjoying being the head coach, the girls have been very welcoming,” White said. “We have a couple of new freshmen this year which is wonderful. We also have Lexi Douglass who came off of the injured reserved which is exciting since she was not able to play her freshman year.”

With challenges they will come to face this season, the team is preparing to defeat rivals such as Gwynedd Mercy University and earn the CSAC championship. The team has made it to the CSAC tournament the past three years but has been unable to get past the first round and is looking to end that losing streak and to come out on top.

“It’s a competitive conference but I’m really hoping we can improve our standings in the CSAC this year,” White said. “I feel really confident and the girls have been working very hard. They like a challenge! Last year when we made it to the playoffs it was a great experience because we played against the number one team. We weren’t able to advance so this year’s goal is to keep getting better.”

This season is also bringing back several key players, Elena Conway, Maggie Javitt and Stephanie Barkofski. Last year the team struggled with injuries, but this year they are entering the season with only one player injured, freshmen Lucy Travers, who is facing a foot injury.

“I’ve seen a lot of improvements in our team especially Elena [Conway] who has worked hard all summer. Personally, I think I have improved as well and have seen lots of improvements with the whole team in general and am pretty excited to see what we are going to do this season,” senior Katie Muska said.

It is the final season for seniors Elena Conway and Katie Muska and they are ready to give it their all.

“I feel really old,” joked Conway. “It’s kind of depressing but I’m really excited to have one last chance to win CSACs.”

The team would like to thank all their fans and the athletic department for all their support.
