A quick- change in seasons and style for Fall and Winter 2020

The year 2020 has been full of nothing but surprises and even though the past week has been 70 degrees in November there are still many fall and winter styles that are trending this year.

With the holidays approaching many stores have been having deals the whole month of November in order to keep crowds out of stores on Black Friday so why not take advantage of this not only for gifts but also the latest fashion trends this winter and fall?

Sophomore education major Molly Wossener’s favorite stores right now are Anthropologie and Free People. “They have a lot of cool pieces and looks. I just love going into their stores and looking around.” As the seasons change Wossener’s style changes of course. “My favorite looks right now are gold chunky jewelry, sweater vests and jeans paired with any platform shoe. It really creates an edgy look,” Woessner said. When it comes to style Wossener does not just rely on fashion magazines or ads to create her looks. “ Blake Lively and Emma Roberts are two of my favorite celebrities. I always like to see what they are wearing on Instagram and create pieces from them,” Woessner said.

Anthropologie and Free People are both a little overpriced but have been providing many holiday deals. Free People have been reducing prices daily and offering free shipping on all orders over $150. While Anthropologie has been offering an extra 50% off on their loungewear and an extra 40% off their sale items. “These sales have definitely been helping me purchase the latest trends without breaking the bank,” she said.“We cannot always count on the best deals and as a college student, I do have to be smart with my money. When I am looking for these cute and affordable trends I use Depop,” Wossener added. Depop is a thrifting app in which you can buy, sell, and discover very unique fashion trends. “I can always count on Depop to find the best vintage pieces for fall and winter,” Woessner said.

Piper Bryne, sophomore marketing major, classifies herself as a “preppy” dresser. “My favorite store right now is Altered State. I have done most of my fall and winter shopping there.” Altered state provides many different unique items from accessories to clothing and even some home decor. “I’m obsessed with accessorizing. I love berets and velvet brimmed fedoras. I am also huge on headbands,” Bryne added.

As the weather gets colder, for the men there are several trends they have to know about. The biggest trends of 2020 have been mid wash denim jeans, vests for layering and leather has also been popular this fall and winter. Hiking boots are not just for hiking anymore. Heritage brands like Fracap, Diemme and Danner have been instrumental in bringing the traditional leather hiking boot into the fashion spotlight. Now the style is gaining such momentum that Ralph Lauren kitted the winter U.S Olympic team with a pair for the opening ceremony.  Nordstrom

carries all of these trends and name brands and has been discounting many items with deals as much as 40 percent off.
