Greg Matarazzo is the Music Director at 89.1 WYBF- FM “The Burn.” To listen to the newest music out there, tune in to Greg’s weekly show, New Music Mondays with G-Funk, every Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

New Music Mondays plays a variety of music, especially jam, rock, reggae, punk, and indie. By receiving CDs from record companies on a weekly basis before they even hit stores, Greg is able to play songs and albums that haven’t even been released yet.

In addition to hearing awesome new music, anyone listening to New Music Mondays will learn about concerts in the area and other news about bands. Greg loves when people call to request songs or comment about the show. If you are impressed with G-Funk, don’t hesitate to call in!

As a senior English and Communication major, Greg has been involved with WYBF since his freshman year three years ago. New Music Mondays with G-Funk is also in its third year. As part of WYBF, Greg was involved in a group project that won the Philadelphia Air Award for a Public Service Announcement for the March of Dimes.

In his current position as Music Director, Greg listens to CDs he receives from record companies and picks which songs fit WYBF’s format. After deciding which songs are good for WYBF and appropriate lyric-wise to use, he loads the new music onto the computer so that DJs at the Burn can play it, thus controlling what new music is available to play on WYBF.

Each week, Greg also does College Music Journal charting. He submits the names of the top thirty records that the Burn plays to CMJ, which prints a magazine each week with the top records of all the schools that participate. This allows the Burn to see what they play in comparison to other colleges.

This past spring, Greg interned with the IronPigs, a Triple A Baseball Team in Lehigh Valley, PA. Along with other Cabrini students, Greg broadcasted games live on WYBF by using the radio studio at Cabrini.

Although Greg originally thought that he would go into a career in radio after graduation, he has started to lean towards another job in the communications field due to the difficulty of becoming a well-known DJ.

In his spare time, Greg enjoys going to concerts, camping, hiking, and traveling. He grew up in Wall, New Jersey.

Keep listening to Greg Matarazzo, G-Funk, on Mondays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m to hear the most recent songs out there- what better way to start off your week?!
