Vanesa Evers has been working at Cabrini for close to a month now. She works as a reference archives, electronic and theses dissertation librarian at Cabrini.

Born in Ohio, She comes from a military family and has moved around the United States many times. She has also been in Germany where she lived on an American army base. Evers has lived in several states such as Washington State, Kentucky, Virginia and Georgia. She started high school in Ohio and finished in Georgia.

She has an associates degree from a community college in Georgia. She also went to Georgia State University. She went to school for journalism and minored in English. She eventually landed at Drexel University and went to school for library science. She is happy with what she got out of her major and is content by the direction her studies have taken her.

“When you asked me where I have I lived, I laughed because I have been everywhere. I consider myself from Georgia. That is where I have stayed the longest in my life. All my family lives in Georgia also,” She said.

She has had brief positions at different institutions and has been living in Philadelphia for more than three years now. She has worked at Temple University and is familiar with the schools in the area.

She chose Cabrini because of the position and what she would be doing stood out to her. Cabrini has everything she was looking for. Cabrini has all the positions and different tasks that she wants in one position. She enjoys being a librarian. “It is definitely the best degree and best experience I have ever had,” She said.

“The main purpose of getting the library degree was to be working in a library. I went to school for the position. I am happy now and that I am actually doing what I want to do,” She said.

She finds the size of Cabrini to be fine. “I have been to large and small college campuses. I am very familiar with all size campuses. Cabrini is just fine for me,” She said.

She also at one time did teach as well. She was an adjunct professor for three years. She taught English composition and reading courses. She works in the library but also can teach a class if the option is given and accepted. At the moment, She has not been assigned to any classes.

She also enjoys digital projects. “I like to work on digital projects. I am not an expert but I am still learning. It is what I like to do,” She said.

She has not met everyone at Cabrini because of COVID-19 but has gone on tours. “I have met the provost but not all teachers from all the departments just yet. If anyone wants to meet me, I am mainly located at the library,” She said.

“Never give up. It is ok to change your mind. Those are two things that I live by,” She said.
